Yes, that’s right. I mean you.

If you’re one of those people who believe (or want to believe) that just by using self help techniques; you’ll win the lottery and abundant financial riches will somehow fall into your lap, you’ll miraculously lose weight and get into shape, or that your boss will suddenly see what a great worker you are and promote you, blah, blah, blah, then you won’t want to read any further.

You see, the truth is no such self help technique exists. It’s about as real as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

At the end of the day, you still have to get up and do the work yourself. No two ways about it. If you want to be successful in whatever your goals are, then there is no substitute for hard work and commitment.

That’s the truth. Always has and always will be, no matter what anyone tells you.

If such a magic "silver bullet" self-help technique or product really did exist, why wouldn’t the people selling and promoting these personal development and self-improvement products use it for themselves?

Do Self-Help Techniques Really Work?


So, why all the fuss about self help techniques? Do self-help techniques really work at all?

Don’t worry, my friend, I assure you that self help techniques really do work, perhaps just not in the way that you’re thinking.

Once you understand how, you’ll never see self help techniques in the same light again.

How Self Help Techniques Actually Work...


Self help techniques work by changing your mind and inner self.

By themselves, self-help techniques can't physically bring you financial riches & abundance, better health or weight loss, friendship or love.

However, what they do is to change your thought patterns, attitudes, subconscious beliefs and inner-self so that:

  1. You'll be in a receptive mindset with the right vibration to attract and accept the things you want
  2. Start to take the necessary actions to achieve your goals

You see, you need to have the right mindset, attitude & beliefs, commitment and willingness to do what it takes.

Not only that, your sub-conscious thoughts and beliefs also have to be aligned in order for you to attract the things you want in life to you (i.e. the Law of Attraction).

That's the truth.

Always has been and always will be, no matter what anyone tells you.

People with Goals Succeed because they know where they are going
Stop for a moment and think about that.

Self help techniques help you in your personal growth by changing your attitude and thinking patterns so that you’ll naturally and intuitively want to take the necessary actions to achieve your goals.

It’s like an inner feeling or intuition. You’ll start thinking that you really should be doing certain things to achieve your goals instead of the usual excuses. In fact, you’ll actually WANT to start doing the things that help you achieve your goals, and actually will feel uneasy if you do anything else.

For example, if you want to lose weight, you’ll naturally decline the 2nd helping or avoid eating that extra packet of potato chips. Or you’ll stop yourself from buying that latest gadget because you just don’t feel comfortable spending your hard-earned money on something you don’t really need.

The change happens internally, from within and you’ll intuitively feel that it’s the right and natural thing to do.

For me, it was when I was studying for my university degree.

There was always something good that I just had to watch on television (season finale, competition finals, season premier (!), etc.), going out with friends (old friends in town, chance to get to know that cute girl from the other class, etc.), I deserve a break (I’ve had a long day at classes and tutorials), blah, blah, blah...

Not surprisingly, my grades slipped. And it wasn’t until I decided to use some of these self help techniques that I started to discipline myself and seriously hit the books.

I’m not going to kid you, I didn’t change overnight and it took a while before I saw any changes (You can’t change a lifetime of bad habits and attitudes overnight!). It certainly wasn’t easy at first and I got easily distracted. However, as I continued using the self help techniques, it got easier and felt more natural to hit the books.

Naturally, my grades improved and I did reasonably well in my studies. I may not be the brightest guy around but at least, I managed to graduate with reasonably good results.

Today, I’m a lot more disciplined and motivated than I was during those "slacker" days. Not perfect (I still waste a fair bit of time on the Xbox!) but much better, and I do make the effort to make up for "lost-time".

Self Help Techniques that Work
Focus on Inner Change


Don’t underestimate the importance of inner change, especially if you're having trouble achieving your goals. Getting started and keeping the momentum is harder than it looks. I’m sure you know someone who’s tried to lose weight, stop smoking or stop procrastinating, but just can’t seem to make the change last.

There’s always enough time to start tomorrow or after that last doughnut, right?

It’s just like an alcoholic or smoker thinking that it’s just the last one and that he can easily quit after this last drink or smoke.

Problem is, it’s never really the last one, is it?

After all, self help techniques, products or gadgets can't force you to get on the exercise bike.

You have to do that by yourself.
