Before I go on and talk about InnerTalk, it’s probably a good idea to quickly recap how dichotic messages work. Just making sure that everybody’s on the same page...=) How Dichotic Subliminal CDs WorkNow, if you remember, subliminal messages work by bypassing the conscious mind and delivering the messages or affirmations directly to the subconscious mind. Normally, most subliminal products work by "masking" the affirmations beneath the sound of nature or new age music. Sometimes, the affirmations are flashed very quickly, in the case of visual subliminal products. In dichotic listening, two different messages are presented to the left and right ears at the same time. As I’ve discussed in the earlier article on dichotic subliminals, the mind can’t focus on both messages at the same time. Most people can usually follow the information in one ear, but very few can understand the messages presented to both ears at the same time. Just think of when you’re surrounded by a bunch of kids all talking at the same time. I bet you’ll find it impossible to listen & understand all of them at the same time, right? And that’s what dichotic subliminal products do. Dichotic subliminal message products use the same principle to confuse the conscious mind. This allows the affirmations to bypass the conscious mind and be accepted directly by the subconscious, without being filtered or rejected by the conscious mind. Now, if you recall, our brains are lateralized, meaning that each hemisphere has different characteristics from the other. The left hemisphere is the logical, analytical side. It has the tendency to analyze and reason things out. On the other side, the right hemisphere is the more emotional, "touchy-feely" and accepting side. With dichotic messages, you can actually customize the type of messages going to each ear, thus increasing the chances that the messages will be accepted by your subconscious mind, without being filtered or rejected by the conscious mind. To further "confuse" the conscious mind, some dichotic subliminal message products play the message going to one side in reverse speech (sometimes called backmasking). Whilst it may sound gibberish to the conscious mind, the subconscious mind is supposedly able to make sense of it. Not surprisingly, some people consider dichotic subliminal message products "unsubliminal". After all, the affirmations are not actually "hidden" under the louder sound of the overlying music or nature sounds. InnerTalk – The Unsubliminal SubliminalOne of the better dichotic subliminal message products that I’ve come across is Dr Eldon Taylor’s Innertalk, also known as the "Taylor Method". First, I’ll quickly give you an overview of InnerTalk (their website, well, let’s just say that it has a lot of information on it. I’ll explain later...=P..). InnerTalk uses dichotic messages to deliver affirmations and messages to your brain. Besides dichotics, it also plays the information at the threshold of human hearing as well as reverse the speech on one side (also known as backmasking). Another characteristic of InnerTalk is that it repeats the affirmations using a male, female and child’s voice (Studies have shown that different people respond better depending on their individual preference of a male, female or child voice). Some people don’t consider InnerTalk as a subliminal message product. That’s because InnerTalk doesn’t hide the messages behind the sound of any music or nature sounds. The messages are "recorded at a perceptible level of awareness and disguised in what is best described as an audio illusion. By blending the affirmations in with the music or nature sounds in this way, InnerTalk bypasses normal conscious awareness, yet still ensures that the affirmations strongly register in the mind." When I listen to the InnerTalk CDs, I can occasionally (most times, you won’t even hear anything) hear something more in the background, apart from the easy listening music, from time to time. 99% of the times, I can’t make out what’s being said. Frankly, it just sounds like gibberish or whispering to me. Who’s Dr. Eldon Taylor?First, some background on Dr. Eldon Taylor, Ph.D, the President and Director of Progressive Awareness Research Inc, the creator of InnerTalk Programs.
Whew! Unlike the owners of most other self-help and subliminal message websites, Dr. Eldon Taylor is one of the most qualified researchers in this field (The guy’s still teaching in universities and giving seminars!). He’s also done a significant amount of research and published numerous papers on this topic. So, as far as qualifications and credibility goes, I have to give it to Dr. Taylor. He's easily one of the most, if not the most qualified person in the self-help subliminal messages industry. The guy knows his stuff... Does InnerTalk Work?"Okay, Scott", you might be saying, "The guy’s smart. But more importantly, does InnerTalk work?" Well, InnerTalk is the only patented and scientifically proven subliminal technology that I know of. It’s also known as the "Taylor" Method, which is based on over 18 years of research and development by Dr. Eldon Taylor in the field of "mind technology". Because of his academic background, Dr. Taylor has subjected his work and technology to extensive independent studies and tests. (Guess it’s not good for his academic reputation if Dr. Eldon Taylor’s peers and colleagues find out that he’s selling snake oil...=P...) As far as I know, InnerTalk is the only subliminal message product that has undergone so many tests and studies and has been scientifically proven to work. And to answer the burning question on your mind as to whether InnerTalk’s dichotic subliminal messages work (C’mon, admit it, that’s what you really want to know, right?...=)...), my experience is that they do. Unlike all the other subliminal messages that I've tried out, listening to Innertalk seems to result in a change. If you're interested, you can read about my experience in the next article. It'll help you decide if Innertalk is what you're looking for. Alternatively, you may want to check out the Innertalk website but I gotta warn you, it's not the easiest website to surf...=P
