Definition of Subliminal
– Below the Threshold of Conscious Perception

First, some definitions. You’d think that the definition of subliminal-messages would be relatively simple. However, even then, it’s not that simple...

So, a subliminal message simply means a message that you can’t able to hear consciously but subconsciously, the messages can be picked by your subconscious mind and will still be able to affect or influence you.

However, technically, this definition is actually flawed.

If a message is really way below the "limen" (i.e. too soft to be heard), you simply won’t be able to detect that message either on a conscious or subconscious level.

For example, if someone is having a whispered conversation two miles away, there is simply no way that you’re going to be able to detect or hear that particular conversation, consciously or subconsciously.

For your mind to be able to detect any messages, subliminal or otherwise, the energy vibration of the messages (I’m referring to audio subliminals here but the same principle applies for visual subliminals as well) must be strong enough to trigger a neuron in your brain, but not strong enough for your mind to be able to detect or identify the message consciously.

In other words, occasionally, you may hear or see something but you won’t be able to understand what is being shown or played. In most cases, you won’t be able to hear anything at all.

So, practically, most people refer to subliminal-messages as messages that you’re not consciously aware of, but are still able to influence or affect you on a subconscious level.

Types of Subliminal Messages

When you mention subliminal messages, most people think of "hidden" under the sound of music or something else. However, there are actually several different techniques to deliver subliminal-messages.

Now, some of these methods work better than others. Others, well, let’s just say the research on them is not yet conclusive...=P
