By the end of this article, you’ll have learnt all about...
Subliminal audio tapes.
You’ve heard of them.
They’re the ones who claim to have subliminal messages embedded under the sound of nature, easy-listening or new-age music, helping you to stop procrastinating or achieve financial abundance, etc., or whatever self-help need that you have.
Perhaps you’ve even been tempted to try them out to see if they work. The problem is, with all the urban legends and mis-information around, you’ve never really sure if you would be throwing money down the drain if you bought subliminal tapes.
After all, by their very nature, you can never be sure that there’s actually any messages or affirmations at all (after all, they are subliminal). And there’s always the nagging doubt at the back of your mind wondering if it’s all a marketing gimmick and whether subliminal tapes actually work at all...
If this rings a bell with you, then you’re in luck. By the end of this article, you’ll find out all about subliminal audio tapes and more.
BTW, throughout this article, I’m going to be using the term "subliminal tapes" and using it to refer to cassettes, CDs, mp3s and other audio medium as well. It’s just a lot easier than saying "subliminal cassettes, CDs, mp3, etc." each time I refer to subliminal audio tapes...
How Subliminal Audio Tapes Work
Subliminal audio tapes are the most common and well-known form of subliminal messages that are available sold to the public. The majority of the audio subliminal-tapes are recorded using one very simple, basic technique.
Basically, verbal affirmations are recorded at a lower level (in other words, very softly), and mixed with a much louder "foreground", usually the sound of ocean waves, a bubbling stream, rain-drops, other sounds of nature or even easy-listening and new-age music.
Subliminal tapes usually record their affirmations at a constant volume below the volume of the foreground, regardless of the volume of the "foreground" sounds. For these basic subliminal tapes, it’s sometimes possible to hear the affirmations (as a whisper or occasionally, maybe even a phrase or word) during quiet moments in the foreground.
More sophisticated subliminal recordings are able to "track" the sound volume of the foreground noise, and adjust the volume of the affirmations accordingly to ensure that the affirmations are always maintained at a constant 5 db lower than the foreground sounds. This means that if the foreground sound becomes softer, the subliminal recordings will reduce in volume as well. This ensures that you won’t be able to hear anything even if the tape goes silent.
There’s a reason why many subliminal audio tapes use the sounds of nature for the foreground, e.g. the sound of ocean waves, a running stream, the sound of rain-drops, etc. These kind of sounds are quite monotonous (try listening to the sound of rain-drops or ocean waves for a while and you’ll know what I mean) and the volume tends to be relatively fixed.
As such, the volume of the subliminal affirmations doesn’t have to move up and down, tracking the sound of the foreground. This makes it much easier for the manufacturers to produce and manufacture such subliminal-tapes.
Most subliminal audio tapes record their affirmations at a normal speed and pitch albeit at a lower volume than the foreground. In other words, if the subliminal messages were played at a normal volume, you’d be able to hear and understand what was being said.
Other more advanced subliminal tapes record their subliminal affirmations at multiple different tracks, frequencies and decibels. Some even claim that their subliminal messages contain up to as much as 50,000 affirmations per hour!
Do Subliminal Audio Tapes Work?
Obviously, by their very nature, you can't tell whether there’s actually any subliminal messages on the tape just by listening to it. After all, you can’t hear the subliminal messages or affirmations even if you listen to the tapes.
Another possible way is to use some sophisticated recording and technical equipment, something that most of us wouldn’t have easy access to. Even if you did have access to these kind of equipment, not many people would know how to use them.
At the end of the day, I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to test whether subliminal audio tapes really work is to try them out and see if they work.
Personally, I’ve found that subliminal audio tapes have an effect when you listen to them. However, as I explained in my previous article, different people react differently to subliminal audio tapes.
Some people show results almost immediately. Others take anything between one to three months to see any results. Some people never respond to subliminal messages at all.
WHAT MY WIFE & I EXPERIENCED
For me, it took me a couple of weeks to see any results when I was listening to a subliminal tape on concentration. On the other hand, my wife reacted almost immediately when she played a subliminal CD on "Stopping Procrastination" when she slept. She claimed that the tape made her want to wake and start doing things in the middle of the night!
Some other subliminal tapes take a much longer time to work, if at all. There are several subliminal audio tapes which have yet to show any results on me, even after listening for months on end, probably because there are some blocks or thinking patterns which I’ll have to release or clear first. (I’ll talk about this in greater detail later.)
So, just bear in mind that different people react differently to subliminal tapes, and that not all subliminal programs will work for everyone.
That’s why it’s so important to only buy subliminal tapes from a vendor who has a decent money-back guarantee. And if you suspect that the tapes are not working for you, return it.
But before you do so, give it a little time. The key to a successful subliminal messages program is repetition, so the more often you listen to them, the more effective they are. If you only listen to the subliminal tapes once every few days and expect miraculous changes to happen instantly, I guarantee you that you're going to be disappointed.
Remember when you were younger (& maybe even now) and your Mum nags you to do something?
If you're like me, chances are that your Mum is going to have to remind you a couple of times before you eventually go and do it. And your Mum is probably going to have to continue reminding you constantly before you start doing it on a regular basis, without being told to do so.
Subliminal tapes are like that. Just like your Mum reminding you to do something, they take time to work, especially if you're trying to fix or change a a deep-seated problem.
So before you conclude that subliminal-tapes don't work, ask yourself if you've really given them a chance. Remember, some people take as long as three months to show any effect at all...
